In a few of my past articles, I alluded to the fact that tap water is every bit as good as bottled water, and in some cases, better. And as much as I hate to say this, the latest national article on bottled water, released by the Associated Press, has just confirmed what I wrote a few months ago: bottled water has contaminates, too.
This proves once again that the BA community has the most informed "greenies" of the bunch. It also proves that bottled water is not any better for you than tap water, no matter how much you believe it.
Every time you buy bottled water, you are buying a plastic bottle. And yes, BA readers are certainly responsible enough to recycle plastics, but to date, only 30% of all plastic bottles, are actually being recycled, according to the EPA. The rest are just thrown away. Not only is the population spending money on something they don't need to, but their purchases pollute the landfills and cost untold zillions of dollars to rectify. I have always scratched my head at all the people buying water. Brands like Aquafina, which is a Pepsi product and already admitted to be tap water, and Dasani, which is a Coke product, have especially confused me. Buying either of those brands means you are buying Coke or Pepsi without the flavoring, and that's it!
Here is the BA solution to your purified water needs: get a reusable container and a charcoal purifier for your faucet, and you are good to go. Without going into specifics, water purifiers are just not all that expensive, but bottled water is! A year's worth of bottled water is going to pay for a tap water purifier dozens and dozens of times over. It will be just as healthy as bottled water, you can make it just as cold as bottled water. There are even store bought flavoring packets for water, so you don't even have to taste the taste of water, if you don't like. Tear open a flavor packet, pour it in your water, and you have a flavored drink, if you so choose.
It is time to stop drinking bottled water. Even if you are worried about your tap water, get a screw on purifier from the local hardware store, and that will give you water that is better than anything you can buy in a bottle!
